Yule Fest To Feature Local Celebrity As Guest Vocalist

ROCHESTER, MN - ROCHESTER, MN - MLT Group and KTTC present Rochester?s annual holiday celebration, YULE FEST, featuring Chuck Blattner directing the Rochester Concert Band & Choir on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 7:30 PM in the Mayo Civic Center - Presentation Hall. This year?s concert will feature the Rochester Area Girls Choir under the direction of Diane Toogood, guest vocalist, KTTC news anchor Tom Overlie, and a special appearance by the big guy in the red suit. Ring in the season with one of Rochester?s oldest and dearest holiday traditions. This year, Chuck and company will present a concert entitled Hallelujahs & Ho, Ho, Ho?s. Selections representing the Hallelujahs include ?Russian Christmas Music?, ?A Celtic Christmas?, ?O Come All Ye Faithful?, ?A Canadian Brass Christmas Suite? and the ?Hallelujah Chorus? from Handel?s Messiah. Selections representing the Ho, Ho, Ho?s include ?Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer?, ?Frosty the Snowman? and selections from ?The Polar Express?. Guest vocalist, Tom Overlie will join the band on ?Santa Claus Is Coming to Town?, ?Let It Snow!, Let It Snow!, Let It Snow!?, ?Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas? and ?White Christmas?. Rounding out the program will be many of your favorite holiday tunes like ?Winter Wonderland? and ?You Raise Me Up? sung by the Rochester Area Girls Choir.



Guest vocalist Tom Overlie first learned to sing from his mother, who studied voice and sang in the prestigious St. Olaf Choir. As a child Tom often sang with his family in front of many church groups throughout the Midwest. He continued to hone his vocal skills in high school and college musicals, plays, and vocal contests. When he began his television news career in the early 1990?s he began singing and speaking regularly at various functions and fund-raisers on behalf of the T.V. stations. Recently, Tom completed two CDs of original love songs and lullabies written for his sisters and their army of children.
