ROCHESTER, MN - Robert & Sarah Keller and KAAL-TV6 present Chuck Blattner and the Rochester Concert Band & Choir performing a concert entitled Virtuosity on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Mayo Civic Center - Presentation Hall. You?ll hear an evening of selections that will showcase the grand virtuosity of some of Rochester?s finest musicians.


Selections to include Leopold Mozart's ?Allegro from Concerto for Trumpet in D major? featuring Jonathan Davis on Trumpet, W.A. Mozart?s ?Romanza from Horn Concerto No. 3, K.477? featuring Ellington Miller Bandel on Horn, John Philip Sousa?s ?El Capitan?, Sean O?Loughlin?s ?Imani? and Peter J. Wilhousky's "The Battle Hymn of the Republic".



Guest conductor Lanny Kolpeck has become an icon in Rochester's musical landscape. In 1973, he assumed the position of Director of Bands at John Adams Junior High School in Rochester, MN where his Honor Band was selected to perform at the MMEA Mid-WInter Clinic in Minneapolis. Mr. Kolpeck was then named director of Bands at John Marshall High School in Rochester: a position he held for twenty years. While at John Marshall, the Marching Band held the distinction of being the first high school band to perform at Pearl Harbor. In1997, Mr. Kolpeck was appointed Director of Bands at the new Century High School in Rochester and held that position until his retirement in 2004.
