Lady in the Water
Review by: Evans
I have nothing bad to say about this movie. Fun fun fun!
You guys are NOT going to believe this. There's a HOT chick... in... my...
pool. No! Listen! I know what you're thinking and all I have to say to you
is... YES WAY!!
Sounds like some sort of crazy fantasy of adolescent boys huh? Well, as the
movie says, maybe stories do come true? Keep dreamin', but don't dream too
hard because MKS has certainly brought this one to life in a big way. I am not
sure that I liked his acting though. That doesn't matter. He gets a free pass
for writing awesome movies.
I guess the best way to describe it is "fairy tale". I set myself up going
in to give it the benefit of the doubt, having heard that it was not good.
I have even decided that I need to do that with every movie I see from now on.
Or try to do that. It seems I always come out liking or semi-liking the movies
that I see after having that mindset going in. So in an effort to not feel like
I am wasting my money, that's the plan of attack from now on.
I was not quite mesmerized, but I kind of found myself just simply watching
and enjoying this movie. I wasn't trying to figure out how the story would
unfold, I just waited for it to happen and man was I impressed. It was like
this weird sense of hope hovered over the movie rather than the suspense of
something bad about to happen. Dare I be cliche and say "it made me feel like
a kid again". That's a good feeling. So go see this movie and try it out. It
was "Princess Bride"-esque where I was Kevin Arnold and MKS was Columbo.
Mr. Giamatti, congratulations on your Oscar. You were brrrrrrILLIANT! How
he didn't win for "Cinderella Man" is beyond me. He always plays such real
characters. No, I don't mean real characters as in he plays real people,
which he often does. I mean even though he's so distinguishable I am never
seeing "him" in his movies, I am always seeing the character. There are
many "great" actors that I can't say that about. If you like Paul, and I
have probably mentioned this before, go to a place where movies are rented
or sold and rent or buy "American Splendor".
I have nothing bad to say about this movie. Fun fun fun!
And critics who give this movie a bad review... BEWARE. You might not make
it to the door in time!
Blim blam!!! Or... whatever.
Until that day,
EVANS = "to see"
