New Orleans legends The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and gospel stalwarts The Dixie Hummingbirds, together on stage for the first time, present "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" a jubilant visit to the spiritual side of The Crescent City and the American South.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band name has been synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances for over 25 years. The band has toured relentlessly to 30 countries on 5 continents and over the years has revitalized the brass band tradition of New Orleans by combining the classic funeral dirge and second-line foundations with elements of funk, blues, rock and jazz. They have also collaborated on record with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Elvis Costello, Norah Jones and Dave Matthews. In 2004 The Dozen released Funeral for a Friend, a stirring collection of traditional blues and gospel spirituals that comprise the New Orleans Jazz Funeral.

Formed in Greenville, South Carolina in 1928, Grammy winners, The Dixie Hummingbirds, have truly earned their distinction as "The Iron Men of Gospel". From their breakout success at the 1966 Newport Folk Festival to backing Paul Simon on his early smash hit, "Loves Me Like A Rock", this soul gospel group has inspired many artists including Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mavis Staples, Stevie Wonder and more. The Dixie Hummingbirds recently marked their 75th Anniversary with an acclaimed new CD, Diamond Jubilation, that features lifetime fans Dr. John and Levon Helm & Garth Hudson of The Band.
