Associated Bank, Apollo Liquor and Laser 101.7 present Southern Rock
legends 38 SPECIAL (www.38special.com) with opening act Fandango on
Sunday, July 16 at 7 PM in Mayo Park. All part of the 15th Anniversary
Season of the Down by the Riverside Free Summer Concert Series.



Since the release of their debut album in 1977, 38 Special has created
a musical legacy that appeals to many generations. With gold and
platinum albums, Top 10 hits, and sold-out stadium tours to their
credit, 38 Special has broken the Southern Rock mold and established
themselves as a classic American rock-and-roll band.



Initially, 38 Special were one of many Southern rock bands in the vein
of the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd; in fact, the band is led by
Donnie Van Zant, the brother of Skynyrd's leader, Ronnie Van Zant.
After releasing a couple of albums of straight-ahead Southern boogie,
the band revamped its sound to fall halfway between country- fried
blues-rock and driving, arena-ready hard rock. The result was a string
of hit albums and singles in the early '80s, highlighted by "Hold On
Loosely", "Caught Up in You," "If I'd Been the One," "Back Where You
Belong," and "Like No Other Night."
